I. WHAT DOES GOD SAY ABOUT GENEROSITY?

1Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, 2 that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. 3 For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord, 2 Corinthians 8:1-3, NASB

II. WHY DOES GOD WANT ME TO BE GENEROUS?

• Antidote to Materialism/Greed

15Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. 1 John 2:15, NASB

• Brings Blessing

6 Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6, NASB

• Reflects Gratitude

7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7, NASB

• Investment in Eternal Things

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  Matthew 6:19-20, NIV

• Reveals the Heart 

21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:21-23, NIV

• Pray and Ask God for Wisdom, Faith, and Strength 
• Percentage
• Plan for Giving
