HE’S STILL* GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS – 1

NOTHING NEW

Uncertainty is nothing new. Times are uncertain, but God is not. He’s still got the whole world in his hands.

Joseph Gen 37-50

Jochebed – Mother of Moses: Exodus 2

Rahab the Harlot: Joshua 2

King David: 2 Samual 15-19

Mary – Mother of Jesus: Luke 1

Mary, Joseph, Jesus: Matthew 2

17When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me one who is eating with me.”  19They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely not I?” 20It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me. 21The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”  Mark 14:17-21

22While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.” 23Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them.   Mark 14:22-24

27“You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written: “‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 28But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”  29Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”   Mark 14: 27-29

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.   Romans 8:28

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Is it possible that God is still active, still accomplishing his purposes?

The answer to that question

  1. Will allow you to brace uncertainty with the Certainty that God is still in control
  2. Will allow you to maintain hope and faith in the meantime
  3. Will allow you to go to bed at night with the confidents that God has not abandoned you
  4. Will motivate you to be on the look out for his grace and intervention
  5. Keep you from making decisions that will only make things worse
  6. Will protect you from despair

When life is uncertain, God is not. He’s still got the whole world in his hands.
