Life Groups Study – September 13

September 13, 2020   /   Trinity Church - Waxahachie

LIFE GROUPS: WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

Our Life Groups exist to promote spiritual maturity and personal growth through meaningful Christian relationships and study of God’s Word (Romans 8:29 & Hebrews 10:24, 25). Life Groups are how we go from being a friendly church to genuinely having friends at church.  Life Groups are how we go from simply hearing sermons to studying and applying

WHAT WILL EACH WEEK LOOK LIKE?

  1. WE SHARE

Each week we’ll take time to share what is happening in our lives. At first this sharing will include planned

“sharing questions” but will become more informal and personal as we all feel more comfortable together.

  1. WE STUDY

Each week we’ll study a section from God’s Word that relates to the previous weekend’s sermon or an

appropriate personal growth topic. Our goal is to learn how to live out our Christianity in everyday life. Our goal is to interact interpersonally on the topic and how we can practically follow Christ, not to answer all the questions.

  1. WE SUPPORT

Each week we’ll learn how to take care of one another as Christ commanded (John 15:9-13). This care can take many forms such as prayer, encouragement, listening, challenging one another, and meeting real needs.

  1. WE SERVE

Spiritual Growth is fostered not only by what we learn, but also through what we do in the service of others. The role each of us fills is important to the health of the church and for us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our community (Ephesians 4:11-16). We will come together to serve our community in some way once over these weeks together.

How we prepare for Life Group:

  1. We engage in the Sunday sermon. Podcasts and Facebook Live recordings are available for weeks we miss church.
  2. We work through the week’s Life Group Notes sometime before we meet. This forms the substance of our discussion.

A brief example of what our weekly Life Group Notes Look Like:

My Highlight

Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching and answer one of the following questions. Were there any thoughts about the Kingdom of God that were new to you? What caught your attention, encouraged, challenged or confused you?

My Story

In the message, Lennon said that the Kingdom of God “shows up wherever God’s people embrace God’s ways.” Has there ever been a time where you felt like you or a group of people you were a part of a were really being transformed by the power of God?  What was different and/or powerful about that time in your life?

Let’s Go Deeper

In this first week of Life Groups, we will spend most of our time getting to know one another and talking about what to expect in the weeks to come. Great things are ahead!
