Prayer Matters: Praying with Power and Purpose

Part 4 – Draw Near to God

Matthew 6:9

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.’ Matthew 6:9-13

Every word we utter in prayer is a reflection of what we .

  • How does Jesus’ model prayer help me correct any poor prayer habits I’ve developed?
  • How is Jesus challenging my prayer life?
  • How is He inviting me to enter into a more glorifying way to pray?

And by him we cry, “Abba,Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:14-16

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. Romans 3:23-25

3) Celebrate our God who is not only , but also !

39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Deuteronomy 4:39

For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;

you are exalted far above all gods. Psalm 97:9

Do not be quick with your mouth,

do not be hasty in your heart

    to utter anything before God.

God is in heaven

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified:… For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 1 Thessalonians 4:3a, 7
