Heroes: Life Lessons from Faith Champions

Part 3 – Moses

23 “When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites. 24 He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defense and avenged him by killing the Egyptian. 25 Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. 26 The next day Moses came upon two Israelites who were fighting. He tried to reconcile them by saying, ‘Men, you are brothers; why do you want to hurt each other?’

27 “But the man who was mistreating the other pushed Moses aside and said, ‘Who made you ruler and judge over us? 28 Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’29 When Moses heard this, he fled to Midian, where he settled as a foreigner and had two sons. Acts 7:23-29

Lesson #1 – There is always a season of ahead of God’s in our lives.

“God will never sacrifice our character to improve our circumstances.”

– Patrick Morley

Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 1 Peter 4:1-2

Would you commit to live the rest of your earthly life, not for human desires, but for the will of God?

Lesson #2 – Our stumbles us and allow God to us.

One son was named Gershom, for Moses said, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land”; and the other was named Eliezer, for he said, “My father’s God was my helper; he saved me from the sword of Pharaoh.” Exodus 18:3

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3

  • Learning humility .

… All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud

but shows favor to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

  • When we are , we are much more likely to be attentive and open to the Lord’s in our lives.

Lesson #3 – God is never more than when He seems .

When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”

And Moses said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3:4

  • God had sent Moses into the wilderness to prepare him to lead his people the wilderness.

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11

  • When we recognize how we are, that is when God can best us.

9 …“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
