The Occult // Supernatural [Part 1]

October 6, 2024

“In your anger do not sin, do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV)

“For the ruler of this dark world is coming. But he has no power over me, for he has nothing to use against me.” John 14:30 (TPT)

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 18:9-13 (NLT)

“You will surely not die for God knows that when you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5 (NIV)

The Allure of the Occult:

   Special Knowledge

   More Power

   Independence from God’s commands

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13-14 (NIV)

How to Break Free from Evil

“Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”Matthew 6:13 (ESV)

  1. Recognize the Battle.

“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)

  1. Remove Connections with Darkness.

“Many of the believers who had been practicing black magic confessed their deeds and brought their incantation books and charms and burned them at a public bonfire. (Someone estimated the value of the books at $10,000).” Acts 19:18-19 (TLB)

  1. Relinquish to Jesus.

“So give yourselves humbly to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 (TLB)
