FACING GIANTS IN LIFE & WORK

1. The Power of Expecting the Best. 

“On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and were terrified.” 1 Samuel 17:11

“David said to Saul, ‘Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine. Your servant will go and fight.’” 1 Samuel 17:32

“The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of the Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:37

1. Expecting the best honors God. (vs. 46-47)

“This day the Lord will hand you [Goliath] over to me and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head and today I’ll give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth. The whole world will know that there’s a God in Israel and those who gather here will know that it’s not by sword or spear that the Lord saves, but the battle is the Lord’s and He will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:46-47

2. Expecting the best increases your ability. (vs. 48-49)

“As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly to the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone he slung it in his slingshot and struck the Philistine on the forehead.” 1 Samuel 17:48-49

3. Expecting the best other people. (vs. 51-52)

“David ran and he stood over Goliath after he had killed him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the scabbard and after he had killed him he cut his head off with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath and to the gates of Ekron.”  1 Samuel 17:51-52

1. How to develop a more positive personality. 

1. Start your day with . 

“In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3

“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”   Psalm 118:24

2. Look for somethingin everyone and everything.

“And we know all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

“You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.”  Psalm 18:28-29

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

“My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance. And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.” James 1:2-4 (TPT)

3. When you pray, thank God in

“‘Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.   Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’” Mark 11:22-24

“When you pray, believe you’ve got it and then you’ll get it.” Mark 11:24 (Moffett)
