The Potential of a Single Life// Family Works: Making Family Life EASIER

October 8, 2023

    1. Accept My Calling.

“God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them.”  Rom. 8:28 (NLT)

“Some, from birth seemingly, never give marriage a thought. Others never get asked—or accepted. And some decide not to get married for Kingdom reasons…”  Matt. 19:12 (Msg)

    3 DIFFERENT CALLINGS FOR SINGLES

    — Those Single by Creation.

“I wish everyone could get along without marrying, just as I do. But we are not all the same. God gives some the gift of marriage, and to others he gives the gift of singleness.”  1 Cor. 7:7 (NLT)

    — Those Single by Choice.

“…some choose not to marry for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matt 19:12 (NLT)

    — Those Single by Circumstance.

“But if the unbeliever (spouse) leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances.”

    1 Cor. 7:15 (NIV)

    1. Embrace My Circumstance.

“Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good, and is pleasing to Him, and is perfect.”  Rom. 12:2 (GNT)

“I have learned to be content in whatever situation I’m in… I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.”   Ph. 4:11-13 (GW)

“He sent this message to us in Babylon: It will be a long time. Therefore build houses and settle down and plant gardens.”  Jer. 29:28 (NIV)

    1. Utilize My Freedom.

“When you’re unmarried, you’re free to concentrate on simply pleasing the Master. Marriage involves… so many more demands on your attention. The time and energy that married people spend on caring for and nurturing each other, the unmarried can spend in becoming whole and holy instruments of God.”  1 Cor. 7:32-34 (Mes)

“Do not use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do … Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love.”  Gal. 5:13 (Mes)
