Jesus Heals A Blind Man: Luke 18:35-43

1. Believe Jesus can change my situation.

“As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.  When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening.  They told him, ‘Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.’ He cried out, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’” Luke 18:35-38 (NIV) 

“God paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ… Because of this, your trust can be in God who raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.  Now your faith and hope can rest in him alone!” 1 Pet. 1:19 & 21 (LB)

2. Ignore all the negative voices.

“Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’” Luke 18:39 (NIV)

“The fear of human opinion disables you; trusting in God protects you from that.” Prov. 29:25 (MSG)

3. Listen for God’s call.

“Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him!’ So they called to the blind man, ‘Cheer up!  On your feet!  He’s calling you.’  Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.” Mark 10:49-50 (NIV) 

“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)

4. Tell God exactly what you want.

“When he came near, Jesus asked him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’  ‘Lord, I want to see!” he replied.” Luke 18:40-41 (NIV) 

“Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?” Rom. 8:32 (NLT)

5. Receive your vision in faith. 

“Jesus said to him, ‘Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.’  Immediately he received his sight …” Luke 18:42-43 (NIV) 

“The ruler of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They cannot see the light of the Good News—the message about the divine greatness of Christ.” 2 Cor 4:4 (ERV)

6. Stick with Jesus on the road he travels.

“Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God.  When all the people saw it, they also praised God.” Luke 18:43 (NIV)
