How To Choose A Church

“You are members of God’s very own family, citizens of God’s country, and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.” Ephesians 2:19 (LB)

“In Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:5

FOUR PURPOSES OF THE CHURCH:

1. It helps me stay spiritually motivated.

“Let us not give up the habit of meeting together. Instead, let us encourage one another.” Hebrews 10:25 (GN)

“Have fellowship with one another, greet one another, love one another, accept one another; be devoted, be kind and compassionate.” Ephesians 4:32

“Share each others troubles and problems and in so obey our Lord’s command.” Galatians 6:2

2. It helps me develop spiritual maturity.

“They were baptized and joined the other believers in regular attendance of the apostles teaching sessions. They worshiped together regularly in the Temple and met in small groups in homes for communion.” Acts 2:41-42 (LB)

3. It helps me discover my ministry.

“For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

“God has given each of your some special abilities, be sure to use them to help each other.” 1 Peter 4:10 (LB)

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

Ephesians 4:11-12

4. It helps me to fulfill my mission.

“Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God’s kindness and love.” Acts 20:24 (LB)

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT CHURCH:

1. It’s statement of faith.

“Be a good workman, one who does not need to be ashamed when God examines your work. Know what his Word says and means.”

2 Timothy 2:15 (LB)

2. It’s style of worship.

“Those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23

3. It’s strategy.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

4. It’s structure.

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
