Nobody Stands Alone // Small Group Weekend

August 28, 2022

Three keys to developing a winning team:

• Heroic off-the-field commitment

• Effective team meetings

• Practice in smaller units

“I’m going to build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

A CHURCH IS PREVAILING WHEN:

1. Individuals commit to off-site spiritual development.

“Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit.”

1 Timothy 4:7 (Phi)

2. Team meetings & group gatherings are highly valued.

“They devoted themselves to their gatherings where teaching and worship and prayer occurred.” Acts 2:42

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:24-25

3. Faith is exercised in smaller groups.

“Let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over each other, studying how we may stir up and stimulate each other to…helpful deeds and noble activities.”

Hebrews 10:25 (Amp)

“Two are better than one, because together they can work more effectively.  If one of them falls down, the other can help him up.” Ephesians 4:9, 10 (GN)

SMALL GROUPS HELP YOU:

1. Connect.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” James 5:16

“Dear brothers, if a Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help him back onto the right path, remembering that next time it might be one of you who is in the wrong.” Galatians 6:1,2 (NIV)

2.  Protect.

“People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron.”

Proverbs 27:17 (GN)

“Every day…keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardened by the glamour of sin.”

Hebrews 3:13 (Jer)

“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.” 1 John 3:16 (NLT)

3. Grow.

“Plans fail without good advice, but they succeed with the advice of many others.” Proverbs 15:22 (NCV)

“The more good advice you get, the more likely you are to win.” Proverbs 24:6 (GN)

“Get good advice and you will succeed.”

Proverbs 20:18 (GN)

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
