Matthew 7:13-20
3 Life Defining Decisions
Decision #1: What will I take?
Enter through the narrow gate. Matthew 7:13
Two Paths:
Gate + Road =
For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
Matthew 7:13b
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 16:25
Gate + Road =
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:14
Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:7,8-10
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Decision #2: What will I listen to?
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Matthew 7:15
Teachers or Speakers
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth 2 Timothy 4:3-4
Decision #3: What am I looking for?
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Matthew 7:16-19

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Matthew 7:3
