!
1 Sam. 16:13, 14 “…that day the Spirit of the Lord came upon David… VS14 (and) the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul…”
Gal. 5:16,17 “So I say, walk in the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. VS17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.”
“WALKING IN SPIRIT” IS:
Pro. 3:5,6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; VS6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Jn. 14:6,17 “(Jesus said) I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— VS17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
FIVE WAYS TO DROWN OUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
ON MY ROAD TRIP
1. PREFER
2. POSIT
3. PRIORITIZE
4. POUR OUT
5. PLACE
THREE OF THE BEST WAYS TO HEAR THE HOLY SPIRIT
ON MY ROAD TRIP
1. SATURATE MY HEART WITH
2 Tim. 3:16,17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, VS17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Lk. 10:27 “(Jesus said) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
2. SURROUND MY HEART WITH
Pro. 12:15 “The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.”
Pro. 20:18 “Plans are established by wise counsel.”
3. CIRCLE BACK ON MY HEART’S
Jer. 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”
1 Cor. 4:4 “My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.”
TWO DIFFERENT ROAD TRIPS
Gal. 5:19-25 “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; VS20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions VS21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
VS22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, VS23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. VS24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. VS25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
