Who is This Jesus?

So, You Want to Follow Jesus!

Mark 1:29-39

What following Jesus looks Like

  1. A Life of others

Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons Vs. 30-34

isn’t all about !

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

  1. A Life of God

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Vs. 35

Practical Prayer Practices

Get with God

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:16

Just with God – and

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others…But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen….And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.  Matthew 6:5-7

Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. Ecclesiastes 5:2

Remember it’s about a not just

  1. A Life of above

Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. Vs. 36-39
