A BETTER WAY – A BETTER WAY TO MEASURE SUCCESS

A Better Way (2) – A Better Way To Measure Success

Pastor Blake Hasnon | 10.18.26

Jesus didn’t come to simply help us do life . He came to show us a way.

Luke 9:23 (NLT)

23Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Luke 10:1–2 (ESV)

1After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.

2And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

A BETTER WAY TO MEASURE SUCCESS…

1.  FOLLOW THE ASSIGNMENT.

“sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.”

When people encounter your life, do they leave more impressed with you or more interested with Jesus?

2.  DEPEND ON THE SENDER.

Luke 10:3–4 (ESV)

3Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

4Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road.

Luke 22:35–36 (ESV)

35And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

36He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.

Preparation can never replace on God.

3.  RELEASE THE OUTCOME.

Luke 10:5–12 (ESV)

5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’

6And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you.

7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.

8 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you.

9Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

10But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say,

11‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’

12I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (ESV)

20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

You can’t control their “yes” but you can control your peace.

4.  REMEMBER WHAT BRINGS JESUS JOY.

Luke 10:17–20 (ESV)

17The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”

18And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

19Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.

Luke 10:20

20Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
