Response – Respond By Trust
September 20, 2026Response – Respond By Trust
Pastor Blake Hanson | 9.20.26
When we leave God out of the decisions and planning we’re ourselves first and Him second.
Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)
2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
Isaiah 30:1–2 (NLT)
1“What sorrow awaits my rebellious children,” says the Lord. “You make plans that are contrary to mine. You make alliances not directed by my Spirit, thus piling up your sins.
2For without consulting me, you have gone down to Egypt for help. You have put your trust in Pharaoh’s protection. You have tried to hide in his shade.
WHY WE FIND IT HARD TO TRUST GOD…
1. Fear makes the threat bigger than God.
2. What we can see feels than the God we can’t see.
3. Waiting feels than running.
Isaiah 30:15–16 (NLT)
15This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.
16You said, ‘No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us swift horses for riding into battle.’ But the only swiftness you are going to see is the swiftness of your enemies chasing you!
Exodus 14:14 (NLT)
14The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
RESPOND BY TRUSTING GOD…
1. TRUST GOD BEFORE MOVING.
Isaiah 30:2 (NLT)
2For without consulting me, you have gone down to Egypt for help. You have put your trust in Pharaoh’s protection. You have tried to hide in his shade.
James 4:14–15 (NLT)
14How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
15What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”
Isaiah 30:9–10 (NLT)
9 that these people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to the Lord’s instructions.
10They tell the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” They tell the prophets, “Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies.
2. TRUSTS WHEN FEAR SAYS RUN.
Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)
15This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence (trust) is your strength. But you would have none of it.
3. TRUST WHEN I’VE RUN THE WRONG WAY.
Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)
18Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Romans 8:32 (NLT)
32Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
