You Asked For It – Forgiveness Starts With Me

Pastor Blake Hanson | 5.31.26

 Ephesians 4:31–32 (NLT)

31Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.

32Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Unforgiveness does not stay to the event, unforgiveness our heart.

Forgiveness starts with .

The Effects of Unforgiveness

15Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

– pain that erupts

Proverbs 29:11 (NLT)

11Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

–  pain that settles in

– pain becomes louder

31Get rid of all…

You cannot surrender what you refuse to name.

17“Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin.

18“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

19“You must obey all my decrees. “Do not mate two different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two different kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven from two different kinds of thread.

2.  PUTTING AWAY WHAT IS ME.

Ephesians 4:31 (NLT)

31Get rid of all…

19But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you?

3.  REFUSING TO LET THE FORM ME.
