COME AND GO

Pastor Steve Anderson | 05.06.2026

1.  Jesus calls us to COME – Come Me – Rest Your Weary Soul

Matthew 11:28-29

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Come with me

2 Corinthians 6:14-18

14 Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?

15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?

16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:

“I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

17 Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.

18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Because God always calls us FROM something….TO something….. Something .

Isaiah 55:1

1 “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money!  Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it’s all free!

It’s for !

Isaiah 55:46-47

46 And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.

47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.

Isaiah 55:2-3

2 Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. 3 “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life/live forever. I will make an everlasting covenant with you.  I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.

Jesus calls us FROM that which doesn’t satisfying to that which will satisfy .

Jesus calls the godly of their complacency and comfort.

Matthew 19:18-22

18…..And Jesus replied: “‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely.

19 Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.”

20 “I’ve obeyed all these commandments,” the young man replied. “What else must I do?”

21 Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Jesus also says Come –

John 11: 43

43 Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!/come forth!”

44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in grave clothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”

And Jesus says “Come to Me AND Me

John 7:37-38

37 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!

38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink!”

Matthew 16:24

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Matthew 4:18-20

18 One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.

19 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” 20 And they left their nets at once and followed him.

John 6:37

37 “Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never send away.”

John 6:44

44 For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up.

One day…Jesus will call us to Come – rapture/heaven

Revelation 22:17

17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.

Jesus CAME to His Own. He CAME to seek and save. But He US to COME!

John 5:39-40

39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me.

40 Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

WHY he us:

Romans 8:28-30

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called (GR kletos – called, named, summoned) according to his purpose for them.

29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

2. Jesus calls us to .

John 15:16

16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed/called you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

Mark 16:15

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations/PEOPLE, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Exodus 4:12

12 (To Moses) Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

Mark 10:52

52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Luke 10:3

3 Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.

Luke 10:37

37 The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”

Luke 14:21-23

21 The master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’

22 After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’

23 So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
