May 3, 2026You Asked For It – Sent on Mission
Pastor Blake Hanson | 5.3.26
John 17:18 (NLT)
18Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
Without mission, life becomes .
You find when you realize you have been sent on a mission.
Luke 2:49 (NKJV)
49And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
John 19:30 (NLT)
30When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished…”
Your mission is to people to Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:18 (NLT)
18And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
20So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
HOW YOUR MISSION BRINGS PURPOSE TO YOUR LIFE…
YOUR MISSION IS A CONTINUATION OF JESUS’ MISSION ON .
Matthew 28:18–20 (NLT)
18Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Mark 16:15 (NLT)
15And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
Luke 24:47 (NLT)
47It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’
John 20:21 (NLT)
21Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
Acts 1:8 (NLT)
8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Ezekiel 33:8 (NLT)
8If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.
YOUR MISSION IS A PRIVILEGE WITH SIGNIFICANCE.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (MSG)
20We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.
John 9:4 (NLT)
4We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.
YOUR MISSION GIVES YOUR MEANING.
Acts 20:24 (NLT)
24But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Acts 1:7–8 (NLT)
7He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.
8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Matthew 24:13–14 (NLT)
13But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
14And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.
YOUR MISSION PLACES GOD .
Luke 22:42 (NLT)
42“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
Romans 6:13 (NLT)
13Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
