BUILDING CREDIBILITY

BUILDING CREDIBILITY

Pastor Blake Hanson | 11.5.25

Matthew 5:33–37 (ESV)

33“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’

34But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,

35or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

36And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.

37Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.

HOW TO BUILD CREDIBILITY…

1.  KEEP YOUR LANGUAGE AND .

Deuteronomy 23:21–22 (ESV)

21“If you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay fulfilling it, for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin.

22But if you refrain from vowing, you will not be guilty of sin.

Leviticus 5:4–5 (NLT)

4“Or suppose you make a foolish vow of any kind, whether its purpose is for good or for bad. When you realize its foolishness, you must admit your guilt.

5“When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.

2.  ANCHOR TO GOD’S TRUTHS TO SHOW GOD’S CREDIBILITY.

John 14:6–7 (NLT)

6Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

7If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
