Refreshed: Find Purpose

Refreshed: Find Purpose

Pastor Blake Hanson | 9.21.25

Colossians 1:15–16 (NLT)

15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is

supreme over all creation,

16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the

things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and

authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.

When I know my purpose, the why makes sense.

FINDING YOUR PURPOSE…

1.   TO KNOW AND ENJOY GOD.

Revelation 4:11 (NLT)

11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all

things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)

5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through

Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Bringing pleasure to God is called .

10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every

kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

Romans 12:1 (NLT)

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he

has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This

is truly the way to worship him.

Isaiah 43:7 (NLT)

7 Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created

them.

2.   FOR GOD’S .

1 John 3:1 (NLT)

1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are…

2 Corinthians 6:18 (NLT)

18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

John 3:3 (NLT)

3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

3. TO BECOME LIKE .

Colossians 2:7 (NLT)

7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

God uses the Holy Spirit, His Word, People and Circumstances to develop our character.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT)

18 And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Ephesians 4:22–24 (NLT)

22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.

23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

4.   TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

1 Corinthians 3:5 (NLT)

5 We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

5.   TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Acts 20:24 (NLT)

24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)

9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
