“UNDAUNTED!”
April 23, 2025“UNDAUNTED!”
Pastor Steve Anderson | April 23, 2025
Definition:
1) not intimidated or discouraged by difficulty, danger, or disappointment.
2) courageously resolute especially in the face of danger or difficulty; not discouraged
CHOOSE Perseverance
Hebrews 10:35-39 (NIV) So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient/waiting endurance/perserverance/bearing up is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. 37 “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. 38 And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.” 39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
Habakuk 2:3-4 This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. 4 “Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God
Galatians 6:9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
CHOOSE Shameless Persistence
Luke 11:5-10 Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him, 6 ‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’ 7 And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’ 8 But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence. 9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
CHOOSE Delayed Gratification
Hebrews 10:35-39 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will.
CHOOSE Confident Trust/Faith In God
2 Corinthians 1:8-12 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. 11 And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety. 12 We can say with confidence and a clear conscience that we have lived with a God-given holiness and sincerity in all our dealings. We have depended on God’s grace, not on our own human wisdom. That is how we have conducted ourselves before the world, and especially toward you.
CHOOSE To Make It About God (Always!)
It’s about God. It’s not about me. And I have to keep on saying that. Some of it is me, but this life is bigger than me. When I get down, when the next thing comes around that gets in my way, I think about how far I’ve come and how far God has brought me. There’s a reason. I don’t know what it is and that’s OK. This has to go forward. When it’s a God thing, it has to go forward.”
Remind Yourself/Recount God’s faithfulness
– Learn from failures, fail forward
– Move forward despite uncertainty (faith!)
– Turn criticism into motivation
– Overcome doubts and doubters – believe what God says
– Leave the past behind
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.”
John 16: 31-33 (MSG) Jesus answered them, “Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”
SEEK Encouragement from God’s word.
Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.no matter what we face, we must have undaunted faith because God is for and with us!
ASK for and Develop Undaunted Courage
Matthew 14:27 Immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying ‘ Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Psalm 31:24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!
1 Corinthians 16:13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
PRAY Undaunted, Confident Prayers
Romans 4:20-21 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.
Wisdom … Courage … Favor … Provision … Passion … Protection (evil one/evil men)
