The Other Side of Freedom
February 5, 2025The Other Side of Freedom
Pastor Tim McDaniel | 02.05.2025
Romans 15:1 (ESV) We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
The strong are to be for those who need strength
Romans 15:2 (NLT) We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
Romans 15:3 (NLT) For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the Scriptures say, “The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.”
Jesus is our
Romans 15:4-5a (NLT) Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. 5 May God, who gives this patience and encouragement…
What strength looks like
Hebrews 10:22 (NLT) Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.
Romans 5:2 (NLT) Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
Psalm 84:5 (NLT) What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord!
Psalm 29:11 (NLT) The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
Proverbs 11:7 (NLT) When the wicked die, their hopes die with them, for they rely on their own feeble strength.
1 Timothy 4:10 (NLT) This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers.
and
Romans 15:5-7 (NLT) May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. 6 Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory.
The weak are obliged to get stronger
Romans 15:8 (NLT) Remember that Christ came as a servant…
Mark 9:24-27 (NLT) This amazed them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. 25 In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”26 The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked. 27 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”
Matthew 26:39 (NLT) He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
Jesus refused the possible to save the impossible
Romans 15:1 (ESV) We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Romans 15:13 (NLT) I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
