MAIN POINT: Seeing Jesus’ glory
Following Jesus doesn’t not mean we are from present suffering, but it also future glory.
In tough times, when God’s people or mediator or prophet was facing tough tasks, seemingly insurmountable tasks, God would reveal a of His glory, though not totally as they would die, but just enough to motivate and fuel the person of God to go forward at all cost.
Just like Jesus’ suffering and death would not be the end of His story, the suffering and death of the disciples will not be the of their story either.
Jesus is the expression of the glory of God.
Jesus is not merely a prophet pointing to God, Jesus God in all His glory on full display.
What this means is that Jesus is the of everything.
Believers can in His presence freely, behold His glory freely and live because of the work of Jesus.
God Himself is who Jesus is and at the same time Peter’s declaration from Matthew 16, that Jesus is the Christ.
The center of all reality is a , Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the reality of the universe.
God Himself instructs the disciples to to Jesus.
Redemption and the kingdom would not come as they expected, but rather it will come through .
The cross would come the crown.
APPLICATION
I think this reminds us that we must be of both our call to suffering but also our certain hope of glory if we are to have a RIGHT view of Christianity.
