“The Eyes of the Lord” – 2 Chronicles 16:9
2 Chronicles 16:7-8 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand. Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the Lord, he delivered them into thine hand.
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
I. God’s Look is
Zechariah 4:10b They are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
Job 34:21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, And he seeth all his goings.
Proverbs 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, And he pondereth all his goings.
Proverbs 3:12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
II. God’s Sight is
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.

God looks past the veneer of our flesh and looks right down into our hearts.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
God looks past it all to see what is happening in our heart.
God is more interested in that inner part of us than the outward part that we project to others.
III. His Vision Brings
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
God is not looking for areas of weakness so He can blast us. He is looking for areas of need so He can bless us.
Genisis 16:13-14 And she called the name of the Lord that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me? Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
God’s gaze can provide you with guidance.
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 33:18-19 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, Upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine.
