“I Bow My Knees” – Ephesians 3:14-21
Psalm 118:23 This is the Lord’s doing; It is marvellous in our eyes.
Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I. Strength
Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.
God’s strength for you is so incredible that it is proportionate to “the riches of His glory.”
Psalm 50:10 For every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills.
2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Acts 1:8a But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
Paul prayed that this church would enter into their strength by faith, and we must pray that way as well.
II. Christ Would in Our Hearts
Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.
The most important aspect of prayer is making sure that Christ is welcomed in our lives and in our church.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Revelations 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Paul prayed that we would have God’s strength in us to help us live in such a way that Jesus would find our life welcoming and hospitable to Him.
Psalm 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Imagine your life as a tree planted on the foundation of Christ. All the nourishment you need in life comes through that relationship. The fruitfulness and stability of your life are an outgrowth. All of this comes from making our life a welcoming place for the presence of Christ.
III. For Growth in of His Love
We need God’s strength to create an environment that welcomes Jesus’ abiding presence, and as Jesus “dwells” in us, we will grow in our understanding of His great love.
Ephesians 3:18-19 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Philippians 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
The more we understand the dimensions of His love, the more we can really live life.
IV. A Dynamic and
Ephesians 3:18-19 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Something beautiful happens in a church when a group of people finds their alignment and assignment behind the person and work of Jesus Christ.
