“Do Not Cease to Pray” – Colossians 1:9-12
Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Real success in life is found in following Jesus Christ and doing that which He would have.
Our prayer for others is not to lead them into compliance with our way of seeing things but to ask God to help them see things as He does.
Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
I. Pray for Them to God’s Will
The hope of whom we pray for is that they would come to see God’s will as found in His Word as truth.
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
When you are praying for someone, do not ask God to make them do your will, rather pray that they would discover and discern His.
II. Pray for Them to God’s Will
Colossians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.
Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.
III. Pray for Them to God’s Will
God’s power is there for us, but if we do not access it, it goes unused.
John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience.
Seeking to live out of our own strength can make us feel empty, but when we live out of God’s strength, we can feel full.
2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
As people come to the place where they know God’s will, do God’s will, and find fulfillment from His strength, it truly leads to life change.
