“Communication” – Ephesians 4:29-32
Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
2 Peter 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth
The power in the Christian life, especially as it relates to the family, is not how much you know, but how well you know and how well you apply what you know.
I. Listen To the Point of
James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Typically, we are quick to “speak” and slow to “hear.”
II. Say What You Mean and What You Say.
Ephesians 4:29a Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth.
Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: But they that deal truly are his delight.
People who are lose with the truth will find that their circle of relationships will get smaller throughout their lives.
III. Think Before You
Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
Proverbs 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health.
IV. Consider Your Tone and Your
Ephesians 4:29c Minister grace unto the hearers.
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: But grievous words stir up anger
Proverbs 12:25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: But a good word maketh it glad.
V. Be An Every Chance You Get.
Ephesians 4:29b Good to the use of edifying.
Ephesians 4:32a And be ye kind one to another.
Proverbs 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Colossians 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged
When we choose to live a life of Godly communication, it gives us the tools to deal with all that life brings our way.
