OVER THE WEIGHT LIMIT – RELATIONAL BAGGAGE
4 “My guilt overwhelms me it is a burden too heavy to bear.”
Psalm 38:4
TOO MUCH WEIGHT…
- Unfulfilled .
12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.”
Proverbs 13:12
- Untreated .
14 “They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace.”
Jeremiah 6:14
- Unresolved .
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Ephesians 4:26-27
- Unhealthy .
3 “I’m speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me, and especially as I have responsibilities in relation to you. Living then, as every one of you does, in pure grace, it’s important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.”
Romans 12:3 (MSG)
- Unrepented .
3 “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. 4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.”
Psalm 32:3-4
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
BIBLICAL TRUTH: One moment with God is enough to anyone.
17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
II Corinthians 5:17
OUR CHALLENGE…
3 “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”
II Corinthians 10:3-4

Living life by something that is not .
5 “We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”
II Corinthians 10:5
2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2
22 “throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.”
Ephesians 4:22-23
32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32
WHAT IS TRUE
- God still .
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.”
John 3:16-17 (MSG)
2. God can .
1 “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”
Romans 8:1-2
3. God will .
20 “You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.”
Psalm 71:20
