Summer at RockCreek – NOW OR NEVER

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

14 You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Matthew 5:13-16

PEOPLE CHANGE WHEN WE

  • enough that we have to.
  • See that we are inspired to.
  • enough that we want to.
  • enough that we are able to.

WE ARE CHANGED TO BE CHANGE AGENTS

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

BIG IDEA: My life was to others change.

  • We are called to be transformation and transformation .

SALT AND LIGHT…

  • Bring out the God flavors – .
  • Bring out the God colors – .

HOW TO BE SALT AND LIGHT?

  1. Don’t ignore what God loves – .

35′For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[f] you were doing it to me!’”

Matthew 25:35-40

SALTINESS 101: -> ->

        2. Leave people better than you found them – .

3 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Philippians 2:3-4 (ESV)

        3. Walk out your faith – .

22 “But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.”

Galatians 5:22-23 (MSG)

        4. Make room at your table – .

16 “Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.”

Psalm 66:16 (NIV)
