Summer Series: Becoming A New Creation!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

II Corinthians 5:17

… I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Philippians 3:12

All that matters is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.

Galatians 6:15

ATOMIC HABITS: Breaking down ambitions into routines.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

II Corinthians 3:12-18

We are not talking about MODIFICATION. We are looking at the reality of TRANSFORMATION.

We are not pursuing change or self-improvement; we are responding to the invitation to more like Jesus

“Jesus came to this world and became a human in order to spread to other humans the kind of life He has – by what I call ‘good infection.’ Every Christian is to become a little Christ. The whole purpose of becoming a Christ follower is simply nothing else.” C.S. Lewis

What the VEIL represents:

between you and God

vs. Opening Up

vs. Contending

conformity vs INWARD transformation

vs. Relationship

Habit #1:

“Whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away” II Corinthians 3:16

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. John 15:5

We turn to Jesus , then & .

Habit #2:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”

II Corinthians 3:17

… If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:31-32

… Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:34-36

Being FREE INDEED includes:

Freedom from SIN

Freedom from all that DISTANCES us from God

Freedom from our WORST version of ourselves

Freedom from FEAR & CONDEMNATION

Freedom from WORRY & ANXIETY

Freedom from DISTRESSING thoughts & emotions

Freedom from GUILT & SHAME

Being made liberates us to become more like Jesus.

Habit #3:

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the glory of the Lord.”

II Corinthians 3:18

She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.

Luke 10:39-40

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 16:11

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

I John 1:1

Christians get weird when they lose their focus on Jesus!

Habit #4:

“We all… are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

II Corinthians 3:18

… I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Philippians 3:12

… Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

II Corinthians 4:16

Atomic Habits for Becoming A New Creation

to Jesus

in the freedom of Jesus

in the presence of Jesus

toward the purpose of Jesus

All of this is from the Lord, who is the Spirit!

II Corinthians 3:18

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

II Corinthians 4:6

They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hand on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people, they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hand on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
