Pastor Bryan – What’s the point – A Better Way to Build

“For I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past.”

Psalm 78:2

“A large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat there and taught as the people stood on the shore. He told many stories in the form of parables.”

Matthew 13:2-3

“He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”

Luke 8:10

“So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

Luke 6:46-49

WHAT DO FOUNDATIONS DO?

WHAT DO WE KNOW

  • No one hard times.
  • Building on a is .
  • Building on is not God’s for your life.

WHAT’S THE POINT: How you build !

A BETTER WAY TO BUILD

  1. Choose the right foundation – SURRENDER to Jesus.

“All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.”

Isaiah 53:6

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.”

I Corinthians 3:11

“I pray to you, O Lord, my rock.”

Psalm 28:1

“Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe.”

Psalm 31:2

“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.”

Psalm 62:6

2. Use the BIBLICAL BLUEPRINT.

“How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. I have tried hard to find you don’t let me wander from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. I praise you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us. I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word.”

Psalm 119:9-16

3. what is being built.

“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.”

Psalm 127:1

“Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.”

Proverb 27:6

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

James 5:16

4. Establish and follow a MAINTENANCE plan.

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

Matthew 6:33

“I pray with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will obey your decrees. I cry out to you; rescue me, that I may obey your laws. I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise. In your faithful love, O Lord, hear my cry; let me be revived by following your regulations.”

Psalm 119:145-149

“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

Galatians 5:16
