Why do you have so little faith?

QUESTIONS JESUS ASKED – WHY DO YOU HAVE SO LITTLE FAITH?

“You’re not smart because of what you know…. You’re smart because of the questions you ask.” (John Maxwell)

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Matthew 6:25-34

WORRY DEFINED: To suffer from unpleasant thoughts, uneasiness, anxiety or trouble, a condition which prevents forward movement.

WHAT IS WORRY (according to scripture): .

  • Worry is sin because it denies the ; it says that He doesn’t know what He’s doing.
  • Worry is sin because it denies the ; it says He does not care.
  • Worry is sin because it denies the ; it says that He isn’t able to deliver me from whatever is causing me to worry

HOW DO WE OVERCOME WORRRY?

  1. We must and go with our faith.

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.”

Acts 3:19

“But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.”

Acts 8:12

2. We must recognize God’s PROVIDENTIAL CARE.

“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them.”

Matthew 6:26

“Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing. yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.”

Matthew 6:28-30

“And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else..”

3. We must recognize our WORTH. (know your worth)

“And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?”

Matthew 6:26

“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.”

Genesis 1:26

“And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.”

4. We must recognize how UNPRODUCTIVE worry is.

“Worry weighs a person down.”

Proverbs 12:25

5. We must EMBRACE God’s Grace for TODAY.

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Matthew 6:33-34

“Worrying does not enable you to escape evil. It makes you unfit to cope with it. The truth is, we always have the strength to bear the trouble when it comes, but if you add today’s troubles to tomorrow’s troubles, you give yourself an impossible burden to carry.” (Dr. KENT HUGHES)

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends. His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”
