WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

1. UNDERSTANDING HOW WE ARE MADE.

SPIRIT, SOUL, BODY – I Thess. 5:23 

• Walking in the Spirit is walking with God’s laws.
• When God’s laws are followed, we make it well with our souls.

Mind, will, and emotions.

• Emotions – Imagination, mind, will, personality.

Spirit should be in charge of soul.

Soul, spirit, and body are how most believers look.

• Walking in the Spirit is something we can choose even in the seasons of intense

doubt, hurt, and spiritual attack.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED?

Watchman New: “A spiritual man is a man born again and walking in the Spirit.”

[Many are born-again, but not in alignment. A spiritual man is somebody born-again and in alignment.]

The proper order –Spirit, Soul, Body.

• Your body needs wholeness. Your soul needs restoring. Your spirit needs the presence of God.
• When we walk in the Spirit, we hear God’s voice. Gal. 5:16
• When the soul is in charge, worries are in charge.

1st Step: Decide that you will not be stopped, you will walk in the spirit.

2. THE KEY TO GOD’S VOICE IS WALKING IN THE SPIRIT.

 WE HAVE 2 OPTIONS: Hearing God’s voice or not hearing God’s voice.   Romans 12:2

• The importance of you hearing God’s voice and talking to your soul.
• The soul is healed through redirection and better memories.
• God’s voice gives protection.
• When you do not hear God’s voice, you lose protection.

KEY TO SOUL: Get it under the Spirit.

• The soul is not created to be in charge but was created to be under the spirit

in order for it to be protected. Galatians 6:8; John 15:11

When God’s order is followed: Spirit is in charge.

The soul is at peace, there is calmness and respite.

• “And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”- THIS IS WALKING IN THE SPIRIT. Psalm 119:11; Colossians 3:13

A person walking in the flesh doesn’t have peace because they are trying to work everything out. Let the spirit be in charge.  Ephesians 6:12

UNDERSTANDING OUR SOUL.

• When the soul is in charge, there is no protection.
• When the spirit is in charge, there is wholeness to the soul and health to the body.

Why walk in the spirit?

• Hear God’s voice.
• Spiritual protection.
• How should we look? Spirit, Soul, Body

Spiritual maturity takes place when the Spirit man grows.

• Satan attacks our spirit through our soul. (Jealousy, fear, pride, conceit)
• When we walk in the spirit, there is spiritual growth.
• When you are out of alignment, you can’t hear God’s voice, and you can’t hear God speak to you.

CONCLUSION:

Simple Prayer: “Lord, allow my relationship with you to cause my soul to submit.”

Isaiah 43:1-3

“Father, I choose to be a person who walks in the spirit, and who will not walk in the flesh.  Lord, I allow you to crucify my Body, I allow you to restore my soul, and I long to live in your presence to experience your renewal in my spirit. “
