“I’M HUNGRY.”
TEXT: John 6:26, 51-67
-We have come out of a time of fasting and prayer.
-I believe that Fasting & Prayer is crucial in the times that we live in.
- At the end of the service, I will share with you some things God spoke to me about concerning ROL.
- In Christianity, we must be careful that we are not 1 mile wide and 1” deep. This message deals with the depth of our Christianity.
The entirety of John 6 is about food.
John 6:66 says, “From this time, many of his disciples went back and walked with Him no more”. Jesus turned to His disciples and said, “Will you also go away”? Simon Peter answered and said, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life”.
- We have to be careful not to show up just for the potlucks.
ILLUS.: Snowshoe Rabbit.
1.WHEN YOU HAVE A LIMITED DIET, IT MAKES YOU VULNERABLE.
- Discipleship, water baptism, Holy Spirit baptism, sanctification, consecration, and dedication are all part of the total package.
WE MUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO HAVE THE MENTALITY OF: “I only want to eat what I like, what You offer. And then, I want to take that, and then I want You to leave me alone, and I want You to let me do what I want to do with my life and live any way I want to live. I want You to forgive my sins. You’re that guy that died on the cross, I don’t want a relationship with You”.
John 6:51, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.”
2. EATING ONLY WHAT WE LIKE MAKES US IMBALANCED.
2 Timothy 3:16-17,” All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
We need All the scripture. You can’t pick and choose. “I want salvation. I want forgiveness”, but I don’t want discipline. “I want salvation, but don’t tell me how I’ve got to live.” “I want salvation but to hold on to a couple of my sins. I want salvation, but I’m not going to commit to anything.
Some people in this generation only want grace from the table.
Everything’s grace. “I can do anyway I want to do. I’m under grace. If I want to stay in adultery, I’m under grace. If I want to be a drunk, I’m under grace”.
3. WE HAVE TO EAT ALL OF THE WORD OF GOD, WHICH INCLUDES TRIALS, TRIBULATIONS, DISAPPOINTMENTS, DELAYS, AND SETBACKS.
The Bible says you’ll go through it, “Everyone who lives godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” You going to go through the fire. You going to go through trials. You’re going to go through disappointments. You’re going to have your heart broken. And if you don’t eat the whole book, when that time comes, you’ll be disillusioned – AND You’ll get mad at God.
Matthew 19:6; Ephesians 5:25
I want grace. But that’s not all that He’s serving. He’s serving submission. He’s serving obedience. He’s serving responsibility along with liberty. Don’t pick and choose at God’s table. Whatever the Father sets on the table, eat it.
HIS PRESENCE WILL CAUSE YOU TO SAY: “I’m blessed to be a blessing. I need to serve. I need to reach out to people. I need to help reach the harvest. I need to get involved and do something for the king besides expect Him to give me miracle after miracle”.
Job. 1:21
The real test of Christianity: Sometimes, it’s when you trust God and you don’t have any answer at all.
Job. 19:25
GOD SAID: ROL WILL ALWAYS BE A MINISTRY CHURCH, A PRAISING CHURCH, AND IT
WILL ALWAYS BE A MISSION’S CHURCH!
