Username and Password: Effectual Fervent Prayer

 

 Today we finish this series called username and password. We have been exploring prayer using the template Jesus left us called “the Lord’s prayer.”

 Prayer seems ridiculous!

 Do you believe that you can say words to an unseen being that can actually move the events of your life or even history? Do you make it a practice to speak to somebody that you cannot see because you believe that the words you say will actually change something, that some force will fall from the sky to make something happen? I say it again, prayer is ridiculous.

 

 James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

 

16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

 

James 5:16 (NKJV) The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

 

Do you realize just one prayer can change everything?

 The only thing that is stopping some of us today from having all that God wants is a few inches…the distance from your knees to the floor!

 

James 5:16 The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.  This is a weapon.  It is not a weapon that we need to use all the time, but you will need to use it.

 

Jesus talked about this kind of praying in a parable one time. 

 

 Luke 11:5  And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

 

Luke 11:9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

 

The parable turns on the word persistence. Someone who doesn’t give up easily. It seems that Jesus is looking for this kind of persistence.

God is looking for this kind of faith.

Almost the kind of faith where a person is imposing their will upon God.

A prayer that persists.

A prayer that hangs on.

A prayer that overcomes.

A prayer that doesn’t quit.

A prayer that is intense.

A prayer that is forceful.

 

James 5:16 The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

 

The prayer…this word for prayer means kind of prayer that arises from a deep personal need. It is felt in the soul. This is not grace at dinner time. This is not bedtime prayers.

 

This is a prayer of great power – this is not indifferent praying.

 This kind of praying is like the Holy Spirit reverberating through your heart and then out of your mouth. This is the kind of praying that is impressed upon you by the Holy Spirit. It doesn’t come from a book; it comes from a deeply moved heart.

 

It has great power as it is working. This is prayer that puts angels to work.

 But there’s one other thing in this Scripture; it is the prayer of a righteous person.

 The prayer that carries weight is the prayer of a righteous person.

• Not the prayer of a person who cherishes their sin but only needs God to help them out.
• Not the prayer of formal professor of Jesus really has no skin in the game.
• Not the prayer of a hypocrite.

 

But the prayer of someone who is been made right because of their relationship with Jesus, and who is living right.

 

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Hoy terminamos esta serie llamada nombre de usuario y contraseña. Hemos estado explorando la oración usando la plantilla que Jesús nos dejó llamada “el Padre Nuestro”.

¡La oración parece ridícula!

¿Crees que puedes decirle palabras a un ser invisible que realmente pueden mover los eventos de tu vida o incluso de la historia? ¿Acostumbras a hablar con alguien que no puedes ver porque crees que las palabras que dices realmente cambiarán algo, que alguna fuerza caerá del cielo para hacer que algo suceda? Lo repito, la oración es ridícula.

 

Santiago 5:13 ¿Hay alguno de vosotros que padezca? Que rece. ¿Alguien está alegre? Que cante alabanzas. 14 ¿Está enfermo alguno de vosotros? Que llame a los ancianos de la iglesia, y que oren por él, ungiéndole con aceite en el nombre del Señor. 15 Y la oración de fe salvará al enfermo, y el Señor lo levantará. Y si ha cometido pecados, será perdonado.

 

16 Por tanto, confesaos vuestros pecados unos a otros y orad unos por otros, para que seáis sanados. La oración de una persona justa tiene un gran poder en la medida en que funciona. 17 Elías era un hombre de naturaleza semejante a la nuestra, y oró fervientemente para que no lloviera, y durante tres años y seis meses no llovió sobre la tierra. 18 Entonces oró de nuevo, y el cielo hizo llover, y la tierra dio su fruto.

 

Santiago 5:16 La oración eficaz y ferviente del justo puede mucho.

 

¿Te das cuenta de que una sola oración puede cambiarlo todo?

Lo único que nos impide a algunos de nosotros hoy tener todo lo que Dios quiere son unos pocos centímetros… ¡La distancia de las rodillas al suelo!

 

Santiago 5:16 La oración del justo tiene gran poder en la medida en que obra.  Esto es un arma.  No es un arma que necesitemos usar todo el tiempo, pero tendrás que usarla.

Jesús habló de este tipo de oración en una parábola una vez.

 

Lucas 11:5 Y les dijo: ¿Quién de vosotros tiene un amigo, y á él á media noche, y le dices: Amigo, préstame tres panes; 6 porque un amigo mío ha venido a mí en su camino, y no tengo nada que ponerle delante. Y él responderá desde dentro y dirá: “No me molestes; la puerta está ahora cerrada, y mis hijos están conmigo en la cama; No puedo levantarme y darte’? 8 Os digo que aunque no se levante y le dé porque es su amigo, sin embargo, por su perseverancia, se levantará y le dará todo lo que necesite.

 

Lucas 11:9 “Por eso os digo: Pedid, y se os dará; buscad, y hallaréis; llamad, y se os abrirá. 10 Porque todo el que pide, recibe, y el que busca, halla; y al que llama, se le abrirá.

 

La parábola gira en torno a la palabra persistencia. Alguien que no se rinde fácilmente. Parece que Jesús está buscando este tipo de persistencia.

Dios está buscando este tipo de fe.

Casi el tipo de fe en la que una persona impone su voluntad a Dios.

Una oración que persiste.

Una oración que se aferra.

Una oración que vence.

Una oración que no se rinde.

Una oración que es intensa.

Una oración que es contundente.

 

Santiago 5:16 La oración del justo tiene gran poder en la medida en que obra. 17 Elías era un hombre de naturaleza semejante a la nuestra, y oró fervientemente para que no lloviera, y durante tres años y seis meses no llovió sobre la tierra. 18 Entonces oró de nuevo, y el cielo hizo llover, y la tierra dio su fruto.

 

La oración…Esta palabra para oración significa un tipo de oración que surge de una profunda necesidad personal. Se siente en el alma. Esto no es gracia a la hora de la cena. Estas no son oraciones antes de acostarse.

 

Esta es una oración de gran poder, no es una oración indiferente.

 

Este tipo de oración es como si el Espíritu Santo reverberara a través de tu corazón y luego saliera de tu boca. Este es el tipo de oración que es impresa en ti por el Espíritu Santo. No viene de un libro; Viene de un corazón profundamente conmovido.

 

Tiene una gran potencia ya que está funcionando. Esta es la oración que pone a los ángeles a trabajar.

 

Pero hay otra cosa en esta Escritura; Es la oración de una persona justa.

La oración que tiene peso es la oración de una persona justa.

• No es la oración de una persona que aprecia su pecado, sino que solo necesita que Dios la ayude.
• No es la oración del profesor formal de Jesús que realmente no tiene nada que ver en el juego.
• No es la oración de un hipócrita.

 

Pero la oración de alguien que ha sido justificado debido a su relación con Jesús, y que está viviendo correctamente.

 

Apocalipsis 3:20 He aquí, yo estoy a la puerta y llamo. Si alguno oye mi voz y abre la puerta, entraré a él y cenaré con él, y él conmigo.

 

¡Veamos lo que DIOS puede hacer!
