Refuge

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength,

    always ready to help in times of trouble.

2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come

    and the mountains crumble into the sea.

3 Let the oceans roar and foam.

    Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!

4 A river brings joy to the city of our God,

    the sacred home of the Most High.

5 God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed.

10 “Be still, and know that I am God!

I want to draw your attention to the fact that there is a place, a safe place, a refuge. There is a place where we can go when the earthquake comes, the mountains begin to crumble, when the waters are surging.

Psalm 57:1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy!

    I look to you for protection.

I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings

    until the danger passes by.

2 I cry out to God Most High,

    to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.

3 He will send help from heaven to rescue me,

    disgracing those who hound me.

My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness.

This is a portrait of a bird who gatherers it’s little ones under its wings where they will experience warmth and protection and safety when danger is all around.

This is a state of the satisfied soul.

Psalm 91:1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High

    will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 This I declare about the Lord:

He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;

    he is my God, and I trust him.

3 For he will rescue you from every trap

    and protect you from deadly disease.

4 He will cover you with his feathers.

    He will shelter you with his wings.

    His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

We can live our life under the covering of his protection, under the covering of his love, under the covering of his safety, under the covering of his power.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God!

Be – don’t come with your resume.

Be still – empty your head and heart out to Jesus.

Be still and know – recount the ways God has been faithful in your life. Remember what the Scripture has taught you.

Be still and know I am.

Be still and know that I am God. The great I am is God. What you’re facing is not God, God is God.

Matthew 11:28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

There is the invitation.

Come to me.

And I will give you rest.

There is a place.

A place of undeserved kindness.

A place of unearned favor.

A place of unexpected compassion.

A place of unjustified rescue.

A place of supernatural intervention and strong help.

It’s a place where you belong.

Matthew 11:28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

What holds you back?

Salmo 46:1 Dios es nuestro refugio y fortaleza, siempre dispuesto a socorrernos en tiempos de angustia.
2 Así que no temeremos cuando vengan terremotos y las montañas se desmoronen en el mar.
3 Deja que los océanos rugan y echen espuma.    ¡Que tiemblen las montañas mientras las aguas suben!

4 Un río alegra la ciudad de nuestro Dios, la morada sagrada del Altísimo.
5 Dios habita en esa ciudad, que no puede ser destruida.

10 »¡Quédense quietos, y sepan que yo soy Dios!

Quiero llamar su atención sobre el hecho de que hay un lugar, un lugar seguro, un refugio. Hay un lugar al que podemos ir cuando llega el terremoto, cuando las montañas comienzan a desmoronarse, cuando las aguas están subiendo.

Salmo 57:1 ¡Ten misericordia de mí, oh Dios, ten piedad!    Te busco para que me protejas. Me esconderé bajo la sombra de tus alas hasta que pase el peligro.
2 Clamo al Dios Altísimo, a Dios, que cumplirá su propósito para mí.
3 Enviará ayuda del cielo para rescatarme, y deshonrará a los que me acosan. Mi Dios enviará su amor y fidelidad inagotables.

Este es un retrato de un pájaro que reúne a sus pequeños bajo sus alas, donde experimentarán calor, protección y seguridad cuando el peligro está por todas partes.

Este es un estado del alma satisfecha.

Salmo 91:1 Los que viven al abrigo del Altísimo hallarán descanso a la sombra del Todopoderoso.
2 Esto declaro del Señor: Él solo es mi refugio, mi lugar seguro;    él es mi Dios, y confío en él.
3 Porque él te librará de toda trampa y te protegerá de enfermedades mortales.
4 Te cubrirá con sus plumas.    Él te protegerá con sus alas.    Sus fieles promesas son tu armadura y protección.

Podemos vivir nuestra vida bajo el manto de su protección, bajo el manto de su amor, bajo el manto de su seguridad, bajo el manto de su poder.

Salmo 46:10 ¡Estad quietos, y conoced que yo soy Dios!

No vengas con tu currículum.

Quédate quieto, vacía tu cabeza y tu corazón a Jesús.

Quédate quieto y sabe, relata las formas en que Dios ha sido fiel en tu vida. Recuerda lo que las Escrituras te han enseñado.

Quédate quieto y sabe que yo soy.

Estad quietos y sabed que Yo soy Dios. El gran yo soy es Dios. Lo que estás enfrentando no es Dios, Dios es Dios.

Mateo 11:28 Entonces Jesús dijo: Venid a mí todos los que estáis cansados y cargados, y yo os haré descansar. 29 Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros. Dejadme enseñaros, porque soy humilde y manso de corazón, y encontraréis descanso para vuestras almas. 30 Porque mi yugo es fácil de llevar, y ligera la carga que os doy.

Ahí está la invitación.

Ven a mí.

Y yo te haré descansar.

Hay un lugar.

Un lugar de bondad inmerecida.

Un lugar de favores inmerecidos.

Un lugar de compasión inesperada.

Un lugar de rescate injustificado.

Un lugar de intervención sobrenatural y de fuerte ayuda.

Es un lugar al que perteneces.

¿Qué te detiene?

¡Veamos lo que DIOS puede hacer!
