2023 Thanksgiving

In Luke 17 we are going to meet 10 men who have been thrown together in life. They are not friends because they want to be friends, they are friends because nobody else would ever be their friend. They’re not hanging around because they have some purpose and passion to do something great, they are thrown together because they all have a nasty disease; a disease called leprosy.

They have all been separated from their families.

They have all been put outside of town.

They are left to fend for themselves.

 Luke 17:11 As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. 12 As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, 13 crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

Luke 17:14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.

In those days it was common for a person who thought that they were cured of something to show themselves to the priests and be pronounced clean.

Luke 17: 15  One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” 16 He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.

Luke 17:17  Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.”

And Jesus wondered where the other nine were.

Jesus noticed the lack of Thanksgiving.

2     Serve the Lord with gladness!

    Come into his presence with singing!

3 Know that the Lord, he is God!

    It is he who made us, and we are his;

    we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

    and his courts with praise!

    Give thanks to him; bless his name!

5 For the Lord is good;

    his steadfast love endures forever,

    and his faithfulness to all generations.

This morning I think we need to take a moment, turnaround from whatever you’re doing and run to Jesus and say “thank you.”

Thank you, Lord.

Thank you, Jesus.

Thank you Jesus for being Jesus…

And thank you Jesus for family…

Thank you Jesus for the church…

And thank you Jesus for the blessings sent my way…

And thank you Jesus for the future…

James 1:16 – 18 So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. 18 He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

Día de Acción de Gracias 2023

En Lucas 17 vamos a conocer a 10 hombres que han sido arrojados juntos en la vida. No son amigos porque quieran ser amigos, son amigos porque nadie más sería su amigo. No andan por ahí porque tienen un propósito y una pasión por hacer algo grande, sino porque todos tienen una enfermedad desagradable; una enfermedad llamada lepra.

Todos han sido separados de sus familias.

Todos han sido puestos fuera de la ciudad.

Son abandonados a su suerte.

 Lucas 17:11 Y Jesús se dirigía a Jerusalén, llegó a la frontera entre Galilea y Samaria. 12 Al entrar en una aldea, diez hombres leprosos se quedaron a distancia, 13 gritando: «¡Jesús, Maestro, ten misericordia de nosotros!»

Lucas 17:14 Mirándolos y diciendo: Id, mostrándoos a los sacerdotes. Y al ir, fueron limpiados de su lepra.

En aquellos días era común que una persona que pensaba que estaba curada de algo se mostrara a los sacerdotes y fuera declarada limpia.

Lucas 17:15 Uno de ellos, al ver que había sido sanado, se volvió a Jesús, gritando: «¡Alabado sea Dios!» 16 Y se postró en tierra a los pies de Jesús, dándole gracias por lo que había hecho. Este hombre era un samaritano.

Lucas 17:17 Jesús preguntó: “¿No he sanado a diez hombres? ¿Dónde están los otros nueve? 18 ¿Nadie ha vuelto a dar gloria a Dios, sino este extranjero? 19 Jesús le dijo: «Levántate y vete. Tu fe te ha sanado”.

Y Jesús se preguntaba dónde estaban los otros nueve.

Jesús notó la falta de Acción de Gracias.

4 ¡Entrad por sus puertas con acción de gracias, y sus atrios con alabanza!    Dadle gracias; ¡Bendito sea su nombre!

5 Porque el Señor es bueno;    Su amor inquebrantable permanece para siempre, y su fidelidad a todas las generaciones.

Esta mañana creo que tenemos que tomarnos un momento, cambiar lo que sea que estés haciendo y correr hacia Jesús y decir “gracias”.

Gracias, Señor.

Gracias, Jesús.

Gracias Jesús por ser Jesús…

Y gracias Jesús por la familia…

Gracias Jesús por la iglesia…

Y gracias Jesús por las bendiciones enviadas a mi manera…

Y gracias Jesús por el futuro…

Santiago 1:16 – 18 Así que no os dejéis engañar, mis queridos hermanos y hermanas. 17 Todo lo que es bueno y perfecto es un don que nos ha llegado de Dios nuestro Padre, que creó todas las lumbreras de los cielos. Nunca cambia ni proyecta una sombra cambiante. 18 Él escogió darnos a luz dándonos su palabra verdadera. Y nosotros, de entre toda la creación, nos convertimos en su preciada posesión.

¡Veamos lo que DIOS puede hacer!
