Let Us – Let us use them

Let’s see what God can do

We have been looking at statements in the Bible that use the words “let us.”

• Psalm 95 –  let us come and kneel before the Lord our maker.
• Let us hold fast our confession of faith.
• Let us come boldly before the throne of grace. Hebrews 4.
• Let us not grow weary of doing good works. Let us do good to everyone at every opportunity. Galatians 6.

 

Today is a call to think of we first, not me first.

 

Let’s read what the Scripture says this morning that may sound ridiculous to us. The key phrase is this; let us use our gifts.

 

Romans 12:3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

 

What the Scripture say?

 

First, I’m supposed to stop thinking about myself all the time and putting myself first.

 

And secondly, the Scripture says that I’ve been assigned a place and a function inside something called the body of Christ.

 

And thirdly, in verse 5 I belong to and have a responsibility to all the other Jesus people in the body of Christ.

 

And fourthly, I have some Holy Spirit, divinely imparted gift that the rest of the church is depending on me using.

 

This is a call to think of we first, not me first.

 

I think I can safely say that the church is the most convoluted organization on face of the earth.

 

1 Corinthians 1:26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus…

 

God chose the lowly things, God chose the weak things, God chose the un-influential, God chose the plain people to be a part of his plan to change the world.

 

Romans 12:3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them:

 

verse 5 has some huge implications Romans 12:5 (NLT) We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

 

Before we can never really be part of God’s worldwide movement we have to buy into this verse. We all belong to each other. I have a responsibility. I’m not my own person. I have something to bring to the table.

 

We first, not me first.

 

Jesus wants his family to be a place where people can belong.

 

Romans 12:4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

 

God has given you a gift and when you use it – it helps the body.

 

The gift God has given you is a way for you to express your faith and strengthen another person.

Déjanos – Vamos a usarlos

Veamos lo que Dios puede hacer

Hemos estado viendo declaraciones en la Biblia que usan las palabras “déjanos”.

 

• Salmo 95 –  Vengamos y arrodillémonos ante el Señor nuestro hacedor.
• Mantengámonos firmes en nuestra confesión de fe.
• Vayamos confiadamente ante el trono de la gracia. Hebreos 4.
• No nos cansemos de hacer buenas obras. Hagamos el bien a todos en cada oportunidad. Gálatas 6.

 

Hoy es un llamado a pensar en nosotros primero, no en mí primero.

 

Leamos lo que dice la Escritura esta mañana que puede sonar ridículo para nosotros. La frase clave es esta; Usemos nuestros dones.

 

Romanos 12:3 Porque por la gracia que me ha sido dada a cada uno de vosotros que no piensen en sí mismos más de lo que debiera pensar, sino que piensen con juicio sobrio, cada uno según la medida de fe que Dios ha asignado.  4 Porque así como en un cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros, y los miembros no todos tienen la misma función, 5 así nosotros, aunque muchos, somos un cuerpo en Cristo, e individualmente miembros unos de otros.  6 Teniendo dones que difieren según la gracia que se nos ha dado, usémoslos: si profecía, en proporción a nuestra fe;  7 si el servicio, en nuestro servicio; el que enseña, en su enseñanza;  8 El que exhorta, en su exhortación; el que contribuye, en generosidad; el que dirige, con celo; el que hace actos de misericordia, con alegría.

 

¿Qué dice la Escritura?

 

Primero, se supone que debo dejar de pensar en mí mismo todo el tiempo y ponerme primero.

 

Y en segundo lugar, la Escritura dice que se me ha asignado un lugar y una función dentro de algo llamado el cuerpo de Cristo.

 

Y en tercer lugar, en el versículo 5 pertenezco y tengo una responsabilidad con todas las demás personas de Jesús en el cuerpo de Cristo.

 

Y en cuarto lugar, tengo algún Espíritu Santo, don divinamente impartido que el resto de la iglesia depende de que yo use.

 

Este es un llamado a pensar en nosotros primero, no en mí primero.

 

Creo que puedo decir con seguridad que la iglesia es la organización más complicada sobre la faz de la tierra.

 

1 Corintios 1:26 Hermanos y hermanas, piensen en lo que eran cuando fueron llamados. No muchos de ustedes eran sabios según los estándares humanos; no muchos fueron influyentes; No muchos eran de noble cuna. 27 Pero Dios escogió las necedades del mundo para avergonzar a los sabios; Dios escogió las cosas débiles del mundo para avergonzar a los fuertes. 28 Dios escogió las cosas humildes de este mundo y las cosas despreciadas —y las que no son— para anular las cosas que son, 29 para que nadie se gloríe delante de él. 30 Es por él que estáis en Cristo Jesús…

 

Dios escogió las cosas humildes, Dios escogió las débiles, Dios escogió a los no influyentes, Dios escogió a la gente sencilla para que fuera parte de su plan para cambiar el mundo.

 

Romanos 12:3 Porque por la gracia que me ha sido dada a cada uno de vosotros que no piensen en sí mismos más de lo que debiera pensar, sino que piensen con juicio sobrio, cada uno según la medida de fe que Dios ha asignado.  4 Porque así como en un cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros, y los miembros no todos tienen la misma función, 5 así nosotros, aunque muchos, somos un cuerpo en Cristo, e individualmente miembros unos de otros.  6 Teniendo dones que difieren según la gracia que se nos ha dado, usémoslos:

 

El versículo 5 tiene algunas implicaciones enormes Romanos 12:5 (NTV) Somos muchas partes de un cuerpo, y todos nos pertenecemos unos a otros.

 

Antes de que nunca podamos ser realmente parte del movimiento mundial de Dios, tenemos que aceptar este versículo. Todos nos pertenecemos unos a otros. Tengo una responsabilidad. No soy mi propia persona. Tengo algo que aportar a la mesa.

 

Nosotros primero, no yo primero.

 

Jesús quiere que su familia sea un lugar donde la gente pueda pertenecer.

Dios te ha dado un regalo y cuando lo usas, ayuda al cuerpo.

 

El regalo que Dios te ha dado es una manera de expresar tu fe y fortalecer a otra persona.

 

¡Veamos lo que Dios puede hacer!
