Let Us – Kneel Psalm 95

 Let us. It means that there is an open invitation. It means that there’s a move that we can make to get closer to God.

It means that we’re invited to do something or to believe something in response to the greatness of God.

 

In this very first message in this series we want to look at a particular phrase in Psalm 95; let us kneel before the Lord.

Psalm 95  Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
    let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
    let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God,
    and a great King above all gods.

 

This Psalm begins with unfettered and jubilant and raucous recognition that Yahweh – the Lord – is great.

Psalm 95:4 In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

 

Psalm 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
    let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

 

Let us kneel.

Let us kneel before Yahweh, our maker.

We are kneeling before our maker.

We are kneeling before our God.

We are kneeling because we are his people.

We are kneeling because we are in his hand.

 

There is a lot of kneeling going on in the Bible.

Matthew 8:2 And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 3 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

 

Today… Let us kneel before Jesus and give them every emotional and spiritual deformity of our life.

 

Today… If you find yourself in an impossible situation, come and let us kneel.

 

Today… If evil has permeated your family then let us kneel.

 

Luke 5:8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”

 

Today… If you are not a follower of Jesus or if you are burdened with sin and condemnation, kneel before Jesus.

 

Today… Don’t walk away when Jesus ask you to lay down your life and your identity to him.

 

Today… Let us kneel together to share one another’s burdens and to pray for great and mighty things.

 

Today… Let us kneel only to Jesus.

 

Paul was on his knees a lot.

Ephesians 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father…that he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love…may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory…

 

Today… Let us kneel and call out to God for more.

 Luke 22:41 And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

 

But the last part of this Psalm takes a wicked turn.

Psalm 95:7 Today, if you hear his voice,
8     do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
    as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 when your fathers put me to the test
    and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I loathed that generation
    and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,
    and they have not known my ways.”
11 Therefore I swore in my wrath,
    “They shall not enter my rest.”

 

When we can’t kneel –

it is often because of pride.

Psalm 10:4 (NIV) In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

 

So, the invitation is given to us, let us kneel…

Psalm 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

 

When we kneel we are expressing humility.

• We are taking our place in the pasture.
• We are declaring our need for God to be our shepherd.
• When we kneel we are declaring that we need help – that we’re not that big – we aren’t that smart – we aren’t that able and we certainly don’t have all the answers.

 

Let’s see what GOD can do!

Arrodímonos Salmo 95

Permítanos.  Significa que hay una invitación abierta. Significa que hay un movimiento que podemos hacer para acercarnos a Dios.

Significa que estamos invitados a hacer algo o a creer algo en respuesta a la grandeza de Dios.

En este primer mensaje de esta serie queremos ver una frase particular en el Salmo 95; arrodillémonos ante el Señor.

Salmo 95 ¡Oh ven, cantemos al Señor;
 ¡Hagamos un ruido gozoso a la roca de nuestra salvación!2 Entremos en su presencia con acción de gracias;
 ¡hagámosle un  ruido gozoso con canciones de alabanza!3 Porque el Señor es un gran Dios, y un gran Rey sobre todos los dioses.

Este Salmo comienza con el reconocimiento sin restricciones, jubiloso y estridente de que Yahvé, el Señor, es grande.

Salmo 95:4 En su mano están las profundidades de la tierra; Las alturas de las montañas también son suyas.5 El mar es suyo, porque él lo hizo, y sus manos formaron la tierra seca.

 

Salmo 95:6 ¡Oh, venid, adoremos y nos inclinemos;
 ¡arrodillémonos ante el Señor, nuestro Hacedor!

7 Porque él es nuestro Dios, y nosotros somos el pueblo de su pasto, y las ovejas de su mano.

Arrodillémonos.

Arrodillémonos ante Yahvé, nuestro hacedor.

Estamos arrodillados ante nuestro creador.

Estamos arrodillados ante nuestro Dios.

Estamos arrodillados porque somos su pueblo.

Estamos arrodillados porque estamos en su mano.

Hay mucho arrodillarse en la Biblia.

Mateo 8:2 Y he aquí, un leproso vino a él y se arrodilló delante de él, diciendo: “Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme”. 3 Y Jesús extendió su mano y lo tocó, diciendo: “Lo haré; Sé limpio”. E inmediatamente su lepra fue limpiada.

Hoy… Arrodillémonos ante Jesús y démosles cada deformidad emocional y espiritual de nuestra vida.

Hoy… Si te encuentras en una situación imposible, ven y déjanos arrodillarnos.

Hoy… Si el mal ha impregnado a su familia, entonces arrodillémonos.

Lucas 5:8 Pero cuando Simón Pedro lo vio, cayó de rodillas de Jesús, diciendo: “Apártate de mí, porque soy un hombre pecador, oh Señor”.

Hoy… Si usted no es un seguidor de Jesús o si está cargado con el pecado y la condenación, arrodíllese ante Jesús.

Hoy… No te alejes cuando Jesús te pida que le entregues tu vida y tu identidad.

Hoy… Arrodillémonos juntos para compartir las cargas de los demás y orar por cosas grandes y poderosas.

Hoy… Arrodillémonos sólo ante Jesús.

Pablo estaba de rodillas mucho.

Efesios 3:14 Por eso doblo mis rodillas ante el Padre… para que os conceda ser fortalecidos con poder a través de su Espíritu en vuestro ser interior, 17 para que Cristo habite en vuestros corazones por medio de la fe, para que vosotros, estando arraigados y cimentados en el amor… puede ser lleno de toda la plenitud de Dios.

20 Ahora bien, al que es capaz de hacer mucho más abundantemente que todo lo que pedimos o pensamos, según el poder que obra dentro de nosotros, 21 a él sea la gloria…

Hoy… Arrodillémonos y clamemos a Dios por más.

Lucas 22:41 Y se apartó de ellos como tirada de piedra, y se arrodilló y oró, 42 diciendo: “Padre, si quieres, quítame esta copa. Sin embargo, no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya”.

Pero la última parte de este Salmo toma un giro malvado.

Salmo 95:7 Hoy, si oyes su voz,8 no endurezcas vuestros corazones, como en Meriba, como en el día de Massah en el desierto9, cuando vuestros padres me pusieron a prueba y me pusieron a prueba, aunque habían visto mi obra.10 Durante cuarenta años aborrecí a esa generación y dije:  “Son un pueblo que se extravía en su corazón, y no han conocido mis caminos”. 11 Por tanto, juré en mi ira: “No entrarán en mi reposo”.

Cuando no podemos arrodillarnos –

A menudo es por orgullo.

Salmo 10:4 (NVI) En su orgullo el hombre impío no lo busca; en todos sus pensamientos no hay lugar para Dios.

Entonces, la invitación nos es dada, arrodillémonos …

Salmo 95:6 ¡Oh, venid, adoremos y nos inclinemos;  ¡arrodillémonos ante el Señor, nuestro Hacedor!

7 Porque él es nuestro Dios, y nosotros somos el pueblo de su pasto, y las ovejas de su mano.

Cuando nos arrodillamos estamos expresando humildad.

• Estamos tomando nuestro lugar en el pasto.
• Estamos declarando nuestra necesidad de que Dios sea nuestro pastor.
• Cuando nos arrodillamos estamos declarando que necesitamos ayuda, que no somos tan grandes, que no somos tan inteligentes, que no somos tan capaces y ciertamente no tenemos todas las respuestas.

¡Veamos lo que Dios puede hacer!
