Sexual Discipleship – In the beginning

Here is our foundational understanding that we’re going to start with; that God created sex and he created it to be a good gift.

We should never be ashamed to discuss what God was not ashamed to create.

We want to talk about the truth of Jesus and we want to do it in the spirit of Jesus.

But that’s what makes this whole conversation difficult, the truth of what Jesus says. Because when Jesus speaks he speaks as the authority, his words don’t give us options, he calls us to a certain way. People walked away from Jesus all the time because they didn’t want to hear what he had to say. And today is no different. Some people are not in a place that they will receive what Jesus says. Some people will walk away from this church. But I’ve also been around long enough to know that many of them will come back around.

And, if you are tempted today to walk away because of something that is said or a stand that is taken, maybe you should consider that when something feels hurtful it’s an indication that healing needs to take place.

And ultimately that is what our desire is, freedom and healing for every part of our lives, especially this part of our life. Many people carry around much guilt and shame and brokenness but Jesus has come to make you whole and to save you and to give you freedom.

So let’s start this first week by understanding that we are all being sexually discipled.

Romans 12:2  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

We are discipled to think of sex in two ways.

1. It’s no big deal.
2. This is the biggest deal.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Sexuality has a divine design.

Do you believe in the beginning that God created the heavens and the earth?

In the beginning God created humankind and he says two things about humans that are incredibly sensitive truths today

First, he says that you are made in the image of God and that every person has value as an image bearer of God.

Secondly, he made us male and female.

Genesis 2:23  Then the man said,

“This at last is bone of my bones
    and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
    because she was taken out of Man.”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

 1 Corinthians 6:16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Sexual immorality is anyway that you abuse sex outside of the way that God designed.

Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Scripture says that sex was created for a one flesh union.

Discipulado Sexual – Al principio

 Aquí está nuestra comprensión fundamental con la que vamos a comenzar; que Dios creó el sexo y lo creó para ser un buen regalo.

Nunca debemos avergonzarnos de discutir lo que Dios no se avergonzó de crear.

Queremos hablar de la verdad de Jesús y queremos hacerlo en el espíritu de Jesús.

Pero eso es lo que hace que toda esta conversación sea difícil, la verdad de lo que Jesús dice.  Porque cuando Jesús habla habla como la autoridad, sus palabras no nos dan opciones, nos llama a un cierto camino. La gente se alejaba de Jesús todo el tiempo porque no querían escuchar lo que tenía que decir.  Y hoy no es diferente. Algunas personas no están en un lugar donde recibirán lo que Jesús dice.  Algunas personas se alejarán de esta iglesia. Pero también he estado presente el tiempo suficiente para saber que muchos de ellos volverán.

Y, si hoy estás tentado a alejarte debido a algo que se dice o una postura que se toma, tal vez deberías considerar que cuando algo se siente hiriente es una indicación de que la curación debe tener lugar.

Y en última instancia, ese es nuestro deseo, libertad y curación para cada parte de nuestras vidas, especialmente esta parte de nuestra vida.  Muchas personas cargan con mucha culpa, vergüenza y quebrantamiento,  pero Jesús ha venido para sanarte y salvarte y darte libertad.

Así que comencemos esta primera semana entendiendo que todos estamos siendo discipulados sexualmente.

Romanos 12:2  No os conforméis a este mundo, sino transformaos por la renovación de vuestra mente, para que al probar podáis discernir cuál es la voluntad de Dios, lo que es bueno, aceptable y perfecto.

Somos discipulados para pensar en el sexo de dos maneras.

1. No es gran cosa.
2. Este es el mayor problema.

Génesis 1:1 En el principio, Dios creó los cielos y la tierra.

Génesis 1:27 Así que Dios creó al hombre a su propia imagen, a imagen de Dios lo creó; hombre y mujer los creó.

La sexualidad tiene un diseño divino.

¿Crees en el principio que Dios creó los cielos y la tierra?

En el principio, Dios creó a la humanidad y dice dos cosas sobre los humanos que son verdades increíblemente sensibles hoy en día.

Primero, dice que estás hecho a imagen de Dios y que cada persona tiene valor como portador de imagen de Dios.

En segundo lugar, nos hizo hombres y mujeres.

Génesis 2:23  Entonces el hombre dijo:

“Esto por fin es hueso de mis huesos
 y carne de mi carne;
ella será llamada Mujer,
 porque fue sacada del Hombre”.

24 Por lo tanto, el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre y se aferrará a su esposa, y se convertirán en una sola carne.  25 Y el hombre y su esposa estaban desnudos y no se avergonzaban.

 1 Corintios 6:16 ¿O no sabéis que el que está unido a una prostituta se convierte en un solo cuerpo con ella?  Porque, como está escrito, “Los dos se convertirán en una sola carne”.  17 Pero el que está unido al Señor se convierte en un solo espíritu con él.  18 Huir de la inmoralidad sexual.  Cualquier otro pecado que una persona comete está fuera del cuerpo, pero la persona sexualmente inmoral peca contra su propio cuerpo.

Hebreos 13:4 Que el matrimonio se celebre en honor entre todos, y que el lecho matrimonial no se contamine, porque Dios juzgará a los sexualmente inmorales y adúlteros.

La inmoralidad sexual es de todos modos que abusas del sexo fuera de la forma en que Dios diseñó.

Génesis 2:24 Por lo tanto, un hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre y se aferrará a su esposa, y se convertirán en una sola carne.

Las Escrituras dicen que el sexo fue creado para una unión de una sola carne.

¡Veamos qué puede hacer DIOS!
