The Name – El Roi – The Lord my shepherd

EL-Roi – the Lord is my shepherd.

This is one of the most tenderest verses of Scripture written in the Bible.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2     He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3     He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Yahweh is my El Roi – my shepherd; I shall not want. I have someone watching over me. I have someone who cares for me. I have someone in every season of life. And that someone is not just anyone but it is the great “I am.” He… Is my shepherd.

Jesus, who is Yahweh in the flesh, announces to the world in John 10 that he had come to fulfill that role of the good shepherd.

 John 10:14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

 John 10:10 I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Here is a big thought for us this morning; the condition of the sheep always reflects their shepherd.

Here is another big thought; It’s all about Him!

Another big thought; I lack nothing. Lacking nothing is the constant state of the Christian life.

 David claims to have “found it” the highest experience, the peak of the journey, the place of the greatest satisfaction, contentment and peace.

David is saying that when the Lord is your shepherd you will not lack anything or want for anything else.

One more big thought this morning before communion; there will be bad times but HE will be with me.

Este es uno de los versículos más tiernos de las Escrituras escritos en la Biblia.

Salmo 23:1 El Señor es mi pastor; No querré.
2 Él me hace acostarme en pastos verdes.
Me lleva al lado de aguas tranquilas.
3 Él restaura mi alma.
Él me guía por caminos de justicia
 por causa de su nombre.

4 Aunque camine por el valle de la sombra de la muerte,
 no temeré ningún mal,
porque tú estás conmigo;
 tu vara y tu bastón,
 me consuelan.

5 Preparas una mesa delante de mí
 en presencia de mis enemigos;
unges mi cabeza con aceite;
 mi taza se desborda.
6 Ciertamente la bondad y la misericordia me seguirán
 todos los días de mi vida,
y habitaré en la casa del Señor
 para siempre.

Yahvé es mi El Roi – mi pastor; No querré.  Tengo a alguien cuidándome. Tengo a alguien que se preocupa por mí.  Tengo a alguien en cada estación de la vida. Y ese alguien no es cualquiera, sino que es el gran “yo soy”. Él… Es mi pastor.

Jesús, que es Yahvé en la carne, anuncia al mundo en Juan 10 que había venido a cumplir ese papel del buen pastor.

Juan 10:14 Yo soy el buen pastor.  Conozco a los míos y a los míos me conozco, 15 así como el Padre me conoce y yo conozco al Padre; y doy mi vida por las ovejas.

Juan 10:10 Vine para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia.

Aquí hay un gran pensamiento para nosotros esta mañana; la condición de las ovejas siempre refleja a su pastor.

Aquí hay otro gran pensamiento; ¡Se trata de Él!

Otro gran pensamiento;  No me falta nada. No le falta nada al estado constante de la vida cristiana.

David afirma haberlo “encontrado” la experiencia más elevada, la cima del viaje, el lugar de la mayor satisfacción, satisfacción y paz.

David está diciendo que cuando el Señor es tu pastor no te faltará nada ni querrás nada más.

Un gran pensamiento más esta mañana antes de la comunión; habrá malos momentos, pero ÉL estará conmigo.

¡Veamos qué puede hacer DIOS!
