Acts 8:1-25

Big Idea: God is God and we are not. When we pretend like we are in control, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and failure. Let the Spirit lead!

Acts 8:1-3
What was meant to bring an end to the church was used by God to launch something beautiful.

Acts 8:4-8
The Lord uses those willing to set aside their own agenda in exchange for God’s.

Acts 8:9-11
Even the least likely candidate for salvation will be received with grace when they submit to the Lord.

Acts 8:12-13
All of our pretend control and power fades away when we meet the truth of Jesus Christ.

Acts 8:14-17
In this one-time event, the Lord sent shockwaves of acceptance through the church.

Acts 8:18-25
In Simon’s failure we are reminded that God is sovereign and that our response to the grace and mercy of Christ should be that of submission and joy.
