Acts 1:1-11
In the book of Acts, we see the Lord building and establishing his church. In this series we are looking at the following three phases of this plan:Consolidation, Expansion, and Multiplication. Acts 1:1-5The Lord seeks to prepare his people for what will soon come. The people are commanded to stay, gather, and wait. The Lord will do the work but the people need to get ready. Acts 1:6Some could not accept the changes to come. This group confronted the Lord with their expectations and preferred outcomes. They nearly missed out on what the Lord wanted to do in and through them. Acts 1:7Jesus reminded the people that God is the author and enabler of his own will and that we would do best to simply trust his leadership and not place demands on the Lord. Acts 1:8 – The Great RefocusingThe disciples were all headed in different directions and were not unified in belief or purpose. Jesus instructed his people to refocus on their core mission. Acts 1:9-11The disciples had work to do if they were going to be ready for the future that the Lord wanted to create in and through them.
