Why I Believe – Communication
August 10, 2025
Principle
The God of the Bible has a long and detailed history of communication with his creation. This communication is the foundation of our faith and, therefore, worthy of exploration.
Examples of Communication Between the Creator and His Creation:
Romans 1:20-21
We see that the Lord has given all creation the gifts of design in creation and natural law. We also see that no one chooses to obey this law, and therefore, all are in need of salvation.
Hebrews 1:1-3
We are created with a need for God, a “God sized” hole in our hearts that can only be filled by faith in the revealed God of the Bible.
Direct Communication / Theophany
See the examples of Eden, Abraham, Moses, Wilderness, First Temple, Elijah, Jesus, and Pentecost.
2 Peter 1:20-21
The Lord purposefully communicates his will and person through mediators who faithfully pass God’s Word on to others.
Deuteronomy 32:44-47
The recorded communications from God to humanity are a gift that must be sought out and embraced. They are the wellspring of life.
Colossians 1:15-20
Jesus Christ represents the full and complete communication of the person of the Triune God. If we want to know God more, we must draw closer to Jesus Christ.
