Faithfulness

March 2, 2025

Exodus 20:14
The two words that make up this command are:
Lo Na’af (No adultery)
The term Na’af is usually used to describe one of two kinds of unfaithfulness.
1. Unfaithful in marriage
2. Unfaithful to God
Read Jeremiah 3:6, 9
This is a description of spiritual adultery.
See the positive principle behind the commandment:
God desires that his people should be marked by the quality of being faithful.
In the command we see the faithful character of God as heard in:
Psalms 33:1-4 and Psalms 145:13.
We do not need more sermons outlining the evils of adultery, rather, we need a change of heart.
Read Matthew 11:27-30
Hear the invitation given to those who are ready to admit their need and who want to see real and lasting change.
4 Potential Messages from the seventh command:
1. Value of Biblical Marriage:
Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5-6, Ephesians 5:31
2. Lust as a Stepping Stone into Adultery.
Matthew 5:27-30
3. Biblical Marriage and the Headship of Christ.
Ephesians 5:21-33
4. God’s Plan to Help Restore Broken Marriages.
Colossians 3:12-14, 1 Corinthians 7:1-7
