January 19, 2025

Exodus 20:4-6

  1. An idol is that which we knowingly worship in place of the Almighty God.

  1. The people of God had firsthand knowledge about the I AM – Exodus 24:7-11

  1. Building a replacement for the Lord – Exodus 32:1-6

  1. The people wanted a god that fit their expectations and desires.

  1. Where do we see others around us seeking to create their own replacements for the Lord?

  1. The call to reject idolatry is a call to be embraced by the all-consuming love of the one true God – Deuteronomy 4:23-24.

This upcoming week: On Wednesday evening at 5:45 PM we will continue in our study of the letter of Philippians. Next Sunday we will be challenged by Exodus 20:7 which calls all people to respect the name of the Lord.
