The DNA of a Good Dad

Happy Father’s Day!

I like the following quote from Billy Graham: “A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.”

The blessing of having a good father is really hard to overstate. Dads do a lot to help lead and provide. Volumes could be written about the different aspects of fatherhood. What makes for a good dad? Today, we will spend some time with just three aspects of being a dad.

Note the following:

1. Keep your promises.

Proverbs 8:7
“My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.”

Proverbs 12:19
“Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.”

2. Practice being there.

2 Samuel 14:28
“Absalom lived two years in Jerusalem without seeing the king’s face.”

3. Stand for something.

Joshua 24:15
“…Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve….but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
