God’s Living, Powerful Word

April 30, 2023

Matthew 4:1-11

In the wilderness, Jesus took on conflict and temptation. Jesus’ friends considered the wilderness the very turf of evil itself. Satan came against Jesus with three specific temptations. There in the desert, Jesus was tempted to take a shortcut, to impress with the spectacular, and to be obsessed with power. Each time Jesus was tempted he responded by quoting Scripture.

The Bible is the Book of the ages. God’s Word is life-giving. In a world that seems chaotic the Scripture serves as an anchor to keep us grounded.

Note:

The showdown in the desert – (4:1)

The craftiness of the enemy – (4:2-3)

The power of Scripture – (4:4-11)
