Joseph: The Quiet Man of Christmas

Matthew 1:18-25

“… Joseph her husband was a righteous man…” (Matt. 1:19)

People come a lot of different ways. Some individuals are loud and hard to miss. Other people are by nature quiet and go unnoticed. I don’t know exactly the personality type of Joseph but I tend to think he was introverted and quiet.

There isn’t a lot written about Joseph in the New Testament. His role as the earthly father of Jesus is important as we think about Christmas but more importantly as we think on salvation history.

What can we glean from his life? Note the following:

Life brings unwanted news.

Difficult decisions are a part of life.

Obedience to God is always right.

The power of a person’s legacy
